Destination weddings do not need to be held in a different country
It turns out that millennial couples have a much broader analysis when it concerns the question "what is a destination wedding?". Sure, destination weddings can happen in a foreign country, however much more occur right here in the U.S. According to the WeddingWire study, nearly 1 in 4 couples consider their wedding to be a kind of destination wedding, but just 13 percent said it occurred abroad. 43 percent of those who defined their wedding as a destination wedding got married in a different state, not a various nation. And just one-third of couples hosting a destination wedding had to fly to arrive. So truly, a wedding does not require a four-hour flight and a passport to be a destination occasion (though 80 percent of couples stated their guests did need to take a trip and stay over night to attend their big day)-- in fact, few do.
Tropical destination weddings remain in the minority
Okay, so a destination wedding doesn't require a crazy amount of travel, but most destination weddings take place on the beach? Only 22 percent of couples host their destination wedding in what's thought about a tropical destination.
Couples choose a place that's special to them
The answer to the concern "what is a destination wedding?" might be this simple: A destination wedding is hosted in a place that's unique to the couple, that does not include their hometowns or where they currently live. According to the WeddingWire study, 53 percent of couples picked their wedding destination since it's meaningful to them. And half of couples in the survey selected to have a destination wedding because it's a distinct experience. Whether it's a favorite destination, a beloved city, or a college town, millennial couples desire every element of their wedding, from the location to the smallest of details, to feel individual.
Couples hosting a destination wedding have a longer engagement
You may think an easygoing destination wedding can be thrown up at the last-minute, but these wedding events require quite a bit more planning than a hometown occasion. In fact, the average couple hosting a destination wedding invests 17 months preparing their big day, as opposed to a 13-month preparation timeline for couples hosting hometown weddings This makes sense when you consider it, as click here couples usually wish to provide their visitors more observe to book travel and lodgings than if they were hosting a hometown wedding. And if couples wish to visit their wedding locale a few times to meet vendors, that will require additional time.
Destination weddings have way less visitors than hometown weddings
It probably comes as no surprise that destination weddings have less guests than home town weddings. According to the WeddingWire study, the typical couple hosts 94 guests at a destination wedding, as compared to 132 guests at a home town wedding.
Destination weddings are held throughout the day
62 percent of couples host their destination wedding ceremonies in the daytime, as opposed to 54 percent of couples weding in their home towns. And another interesting truth-- couples hosting a destination wedding are less likely to hold their ceremony in a home of praise (only 12 percent do, as opposed to a quarter of those hosting a hometown event), suggesting they're probably deciding for outside ceremony settings to completely accept their wedding place.
Couples hosting a destination wedding are more likely to hire a wedding coordinator
Less than a quarter of couples hosting home town wedding events hire a wedding organizer, and many often they're employing a day-of coordinator.
